Windows & Doors Before & After in Houston, TX
Pictures beat promises. A window can look fine in a brochure and feel completely different on a west-facing wall in August. The projects below show real Houston conditions: sun-bleached frames, fogged glass, doors that stick after one humid summer. Each one is a before-and-after we’ve done, described the way we’d talk you through it at your kitchen table.
Recent Transformations
Single-Pane to Impact-Rated Replacement: Meyerland
Before
AfterThis 1960s ranch still had its original aluminum windows, and the homeowner was tired of sweating near the glass every July. The frames had oxidized so badly that two sashes wouldn’t close all the way. We pulled everything, squared the openings, and set PGT impact-rated units with low-e glass (a thin coating that reflects heat back out in summer and back in during winter). The rooms are noticeably quieter now, and the AC doesn’t fight the sun all afternoon.
Fogged Insulated Glass on a Second Story: The Heights
Before
AfterYou see this constantly in Houston: windows that look cloudy no matter how much you clean them. That’s a failed seal between the two panes, and once moisture gets in, the insulating gas gets out. This Heights home had four upstairs windows gone foggy. We replaced the sashes with new ECO Window Systems units matched to the existing frame profile, so the fix stayed clean without a full-frame tear-out. The homeowner could actually see her oak trees again.
Warped Entry Door Replaced with Therma-Tru: Katy
Before
AfterA wood door in Houston absorbs humidity like a sponge. This Katy entry door had swollen so much that the deadbolt would only throw if you lifted the handle and leaned into it. We pulled the old slab and jamb, installed a Therma-Tru fiberglass unit with new weatherstripping, and adjusted it so the latch closes with one finger. Same curb appeal, no more shoulder-shove to get in the house.
Window Install for a New Sunroom: Sugar Land

This one started as an empty concrete pad and a framing plan. The homeowners wanted a sunroom that actually worked as a three-season space, not a glass oven. We worked with their contractor on the rough openings and installed ES Windows with high solar heat gain ratings plus operable transoms for real airflow. On a spring evening, that room gets the full west light and holds it. Worth doing right, which is why we measure three times before the first window leaves the truck.
Cracked Window Pane Turned Full Sash Replacement: Clear Lake

What looked like a quick pane swap turned out to be a bigger job the moment we pulled the glazing bead. The frame channel had been patched before, poorly, and the sash itself was starting to bow. We showed the homeowner exactly what we found, gave her the written price for the full sash, and had the new CWS unit in the same week. Sometimes the honest answer is more work than you hoped, but it costs less than doing the quick fix twice.
Dated Aluminum Frames to Energy-Efficient Vinyl: Spring Branch

Aluminum frames conduct heat straight into a room, and this Spring Branch house had sixteen of them. The homeowner kept the blinds closed all summer, which defeated the point of having windows at all. We did a full-frame replacement with ECO Window Systems vinyl units, added low-e glass throughout, and rebuilt the interior trim. The electric bill dropped enough that she noticed it the first month. That’s the quiet payoff of a job like this.
